FEBRUARY

Welcome to my first foray into writing. One of my passions is reading, so writing is out of the box for me. Fashion, on the other hand is right in my wheelhouse. I have dreamt about The Re-Find Designer for longer than I can remember. In my 20s I ended up living just outside of NYC in Elizabeth, NJ. Very very far from my lifetime home of Oklahoma City. New York City to this day feels like my second home. It is by far my favorite vacation, my favorite place to be any time of the year, and NYC makes me feel alive and young and a little bougie. My love of fashion started in NYC in the late 80s, on the streets of the city, in restaurants, hotels, Broadway shows, etc. My first real opportunity to actually afford the designers I had fallen in love with happened on the Upper East Side at Michael’s Consignment. If you are a man reading this, I would believe that you walking into the Superbowl would be the same feeling as the first time I walked into the magical wonderland that was (and still is) Michael’s Consignment. That store is still there and I have been back so many times, I would be surprised if they didn’t just recognize me when I walked in. ‘Here comes that country hick girl from Oklahoma’ 😊. That store was the start of my dreams for The Re-Find Designer.

I am honored to serve as your ‘Fashion Expert’ for this magazine. I am going to take it seriously because I want to educate you all as I also learn and live in this industry. And I hope you enjoy reading about all of the different fashion houses and labels as much as I have enjoyed researching and learning everything I can about every designer. Please come by the store anytime, I love helping women find that perfect Little Black Dress, the perfect outfit for meeting your in-laws, or your new favorite handbag. And if you are headed to NYC, please let me help curate your wardrobe. And I have some pretty good restaurant tips for you too!

Fashion is much more than people think it is. Great style comes from confidence. Your confidence walks in to an event before you do. Fashion should be joyful and about whatever makes you feel good. Celebrate your individuality with fashion, we are no longer trying to fit inside a mold. The fashion industry was built on the concept of change.

Have a great February. Try this notion: Buy less, but buy better quality. Ask yourself if you will love it for years to come. Will this be heirloom fashion that you will pass down? Will it give you the confidence to walk in a room like you own it? Be the change in yourself. Here’s to a very fashionable 2024!
